Hautbois Development

In 2001 the 80,000 members of Girlguiding Anglia decided that Hautbois
was here to stay,
that it needed a larger dining room,
a larger training room,
a new shop and
improved disabled facilities

After extensive debate, architects were appointed and the plan took on a life of its own: it grew, evolved, shrank, grew again, was almost abandoned, resurrected, and finally modified to the design we are going ahead with. We will have a brand new dining room built onto the back of the house; this will double as a modern training room with bang up-to-date presentation and training facilities. The kitchen will be completely refitted when it is moved to the old, extended dining room. The newly designed shop will come in from the cold to the original kitchen, with access from both inside and outside the house. There will be additional toilets, incorporating disabled access, on the ground floor.

Full size floor plan and elevation drawings are available as downloadable pdf files. You will need Acrobat Reader to view them (link for download below). You will see that the plans include a lift in the main entrance stairwell. This does not form part of the current development - however Anglia Trefoil Guild are coordinating the fundraising for this.

Building work has now been completed. Click here for the latest pictures.

Despite having finished we are still actively fund-raising. Feast for Funds and Healthy 4 Hautbois are two major fundraisers that you can still get involved with. If you like the idea of contributing towards a ‘Wedding List’ to help fit out the Centre, we have the Gift List - click here for details.

A huge thank you to everyone who has already raised money towards the Hautbois Development!

Download Reader here free of charge. Please be aware that downloading the pdf files could take quite a long time with a dial-up connection.
