Friends of HautboisThis page is dedicated to a very special group of people - The Friends of Hautbois! Friends of Hautbois is a group of very enthusiastic people, both individual and group (such as Trefoil Guilds) who help out at Hautbois. Not only are they members of an exclusive "club" (which is open to all!), whose subscriptions help to provide for "extras" at Hautbois that we could not otherwise afford, but they also hold fund-raising events to bring in additional money, and, equally importantly, offer their time and labour to help us. Events such as the Family Fun Day held in August could not take place without the help of Friends (not forgetting the other volunteers who give up their free time as well), and the bedding plants are lovingly planted and tended too. There are numerous ways in which the Friends help at Hautbois, and we are deeply grateful to them for their continued support and assistance. We have three annual events at Hautbois which are aimed at, but not exclusive to, the Friends, namely The Friends Leisure Weekend, Friends AGM (the AGM itself is on the Sunday, but the House is available the whole weekend for the Friends to stay and enjoy the experience of Hautbois!), and our New Year Party. Projects.Recent projects that have benefited from the Friends generosity have been the Aerial Runway, a conveyor toaster, new Dome Tents, replacement Archery equipment, replacement Kayaks, Plants & Tubs, Fall Arrester blocks on the Abseil Tower, which should make sessions safer. More recently Friends have paid for new carpets in Patteson and Hertfordshire Rooms, a new bar cabinet (so we can move the bar into Hertfordshire, freeing up the staff room), and new bedding for the House. In addition to all this Friends also very generously agreed to meet the shortfall in the new kitchen fitting cost, and their funds paid for much of the new equipment we needed. Soft Furnishings are also regularly updated with donations provided by Friends. As can be seen The Friends of Hautbois are valuable allies, and you too can be a part of this by joining. You will receive a membership card and twice-yearly newsletters, and not only will you be welcome to come to Hautbois events but your subscriptions will help to provide some of the much-needed additional funding for things we might otherwise not be able to afford. Gift Aid.Friends who are taxpayers can make additional money available at no extra cost! Simply by filling in a Gift Aid form that will enable us to reclaim the tax paid on the subscription money (and any additional donations that you may wish to make), which approximates to about an additional 28 pence in every pound given. The only requirement is that you are a taxpayer and pay Inland Revenue at least as much as you give to Friends.
